Beauty Obsession of the Day…

My oily skin has always been quite a pain in the butt. I usually start the working day with a carefully polished face, only to watch it slowly disintegrate during the course of it – to the point of looking totally unkempt by 4PM. I always notice a big difference if I use a primer – but have not yet managed to settle on one that I actually love. I currently use Benefit’s ‘The Porefessional’ pro balm, but find it a bit too silicon-y and heavy for my skin (as is the case with most of the other primers I’ve tried this far). As a result I usually only resort to it on ‘special occasions’ (for fear of irritation or – god forbid – a major breakout). While browsing Cult Beauty (& in particular its ‘What’s New’ section), I bumped into this little gem by Jouer. According to the description, the Anti- Blemish Matte Primer is “enriched with clarifying, resurfacing, soothing and luminosity-boosting ingredients, as well as Vitamin E, Ginseng and Gingko Biloba to provide …

Houston, We Have a “Problem”…

Boots is now officially offering international delivery to 19 EU countries, including Greece (*insert little song & dance here*). That means I finally have the chance to get my hands on previously inaccessible/ hard-to-find-where-I’m-at brands such as No.7, Revlon (!!), Smashbox, Soap & Glory & Origins – but also get quick access to products from brands such as Maybelline (i.e. Color Elixirs, Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser, Baby Lips Lip Balm, Color Sensational: The Buffs lipsticks etc.) and L’Oreal (i.e. Miss Manga Mascara, Nude Magique Eau De Teint Foundation, Glam Shine Stain Splash etc.) that take forever to show up (if at all) on the Greek market… This may either be the best day of my life or just the start of my, eventual, financial ruin… Now please excuse me while I go check out that “3 for 2” deal on Revlon (those of you who’ve been following me for a while know exactly how much that means). Ta- ta!

Two Thumbs Up for Down Under

I am a big believer in giving credit where credit’s due, so I feel like I need to post this: In late 2012 I purchased a 2013 Santoro Gorjuss Wall Calendar, which brandished my office walls and made me happy through the year. I loved it so much I knew, without a doubt, that I wanted to get the 2014 one too. Unfortunately I procrastinated for way too long and by January the 8th, when I finally decided to place an order, “my precious” seemed to be totally sold out – everywhere. I clicked practically every single link Google came up with, to no avail, until I chanced upon a calendar site which seemed to still have it in stock. I was (smugly) over-the-moon happy until… I realized the company was based in Australia! Despite being slightly dubious, I decided to go ahead and risk late or damaged delivery (Australia to Greece is no small feat for a cardboard box, mind you). I ordered, paid (quickly & easily through PayPal), chose Express delivery, then crossed …

Oops, I did it again…

Earlier today, I bumped into a post by the lovely Ruth Crilly of A Model Recommends showcasing the KIKO Ultra Glossy Stylo lipstick set. Her little review led to my googling the brand (for those of you who are not yet familiar with it KIKO is an Italian based, professional makeup & skin care company), checking out other beauty blogger reviews of their products and visiting the dedicated website to check the range out for myself. BIG MISTAKE! A couple of hours later, not only am I registered with them but I have also put in a slightly obscene order – for about 80€ worth of products :O               I am now feeling guilty and over- excited, in equal measures, and cannot wait to get my hands on their package and start trying out all the new & exciting stuff I’ve got. I will be posting a (mega) haul review, as soon as I’ve got a chance to sample everything – so do check back if you wanna see …

Mary Katrantzou Online

It’s always uplifting and inspiring to see fellow nationals excel in the worldwide arena whether it be in food, beauty, fashion or anything else. Throughout the years I have found such inspiration in a number of different news pieces, from articles showcasing the huge success of Carpo (nuts/dried fruit/ chocolate/ coffee) in London & Lukumas (traditional greek doughnuts) in Barcelona, to pieces praising the wonderful, all natural beauty offerings of the Korres family and articles in the world’s greatest fashion magazines featuring the amazing prints of our very own Mary Katrantzou. Born in Athens in 1983, Katrantzou followed her dream and ambition and has quickly become one of fashion’s favorite children – with hundreds of celebrity fans, stockists all around the globe and co-op projects with the likes of Longchamp, Current Elliott, Repetto, Swarovski, Gianvito Rossi et. al. Her latest project, launched two days ago, is a website offering details re: the brand’s latest news and events, as well as select pieces from the label’s collection (via the e-shop, where customers can filter items by …
