Pick Your Five: Balmain x H&M

The Balmain x H&M collection has finally hit shelves in Greece and, to be honest, it is not exactly everything I had been hoping for (*insert collective fashionista gasp here*). That probably has to do with the fact that I’m more of a plain Jane when it comes to my wardrobe – so all the feathers and sequins and embroidery just isn’t rocking my boat. That said, there is a few select pieces I would have definitely grabbed, provided I was inclined to spend a sizable chunk of money (which, at the moment, is truly not in huge supply) and travel to Athens to stoically squeeze myself in line at the one H&M store that carries the collection. Here’s my coveted top 5: The Dressy Dress A girl can never have too many little black dresses and, in classic Balmain fashion, this totally knocks it out of the park (no unnecessary frills included). The Casual Dress Cause there is nothing like a bold everyday piece to instantly lift your mood and make those dreary winter …

Coco Crush: Chanel Fine Jewelry @ Net-a-Porter

Introducing Coco Crush: A limited edition, Chanel fine jewelry capsule collection available @ Net-a-Porter’s exclusive pop-up store for the next three weeks (from April 14th to May 6th). The six-piece collection comprises five rings and a cuff in 18-carat white and yellow gold – all featuring Chanel’s signature quilted motif (apparently known as the matelass√©). Should you feel like checking it out (and, who are we kidding – you will, won’t you?) be warned: prices are absolutely astronomical. That said, one can still drool over these from the comfort (& privacy) of one’s own living room – non? {Images: Chanel and Observer, online}

Fashion Obsession of the Day

It’s been ages since I bought myself a brand new pair of sunglasses. In fact, I think the last ones were my jet black Ray-Ban Aviators, back in 2010. They’ve proved hard as nails and been totally reliable (despite the fact I’ve been taking nowhere near as good enough care of them as I should have). That said, I feel in need of a change and with the weather getting warmer and sunnier, it just feels like the perfect time… Enter Zylo Eyewear – a company founded in 2013 on the island of Syros by two young, passionate and hard working locals –¬†Eleni Vakondiou and Periklis Therrios. Zylo makes the most gorgeous, hand crafted, wooden glasses and I have fallen hopelessly, head over heels in love with their Twiggy model in Rosewood (see below). I have e-mailed the company asking for a quote (since prices are currently not available online) and have to admit to being slightly apprehensive re: what the answer might be (since my research indicates that prices range from 160 to 260 …

Fashion Obsession of the Day…

I blame… work for this. More specifically, I blame my colleague “A”. She always comes in looking all chic and fashion forward, but the bag she was sporting today totally awoke the little green monster of jealousy inside – haha! It’s no big secret I love pop art and especially Roy Lichtenstein, so I guess that should come as no surprise. As soon as I was at my desk, I googled Gabs bags and tried to find the Lichtenstein-esque model in question (apparently the G3 Studio S0117). Turns out it’s out of stock everywhere as it was, apparently, part of their Autumn- Winter 2015 collection. Don’t you just hate it when that happens? Guess it just makes it more of an actual obsession, though… I’ve contacted the, Firenze based, company via Twitter – in what’s probably gonna prove a fruitless attempt to locate any available stock and am now awaiting a reply. If any of you happen to know where I might be able to purchase this, do let me know. Meanwhile, here’s a couple …

New York Fashion Week > Highlights

Once again I have been totally overwhelmed by this year’s Fashion Weeks, not least ’cause I was so late in getting involved with what proved to be a veritable whirlwind of colors, textures and designs… In an effort to catch up, I’ll start by tackling New York Fashion Week and showcasing some of my favorite shows and pieces. Before I start, let me clarify: if I included everything that actually caught my eye this would prove to be a ridiculously long and photo- heavy post, so I’ll only feature designers who had seven (or more) pieces that I loved in their collections. That said, let us begin – counting backwards from the highest ranking: NAEEM KHAN Naeem Khan never fails to impress me with his collections. This one was yet another “red-carpet” gem – with loads of my favorite colors, luxurious fabrics and a good amount of intricate details and beading thrown in. Loved everything but the presentation of his models – their makeup felt a tad heavy and to be honest I thought their …
