Ever since I heard that Boots now delivers outside the UK, I’ve become obsessed with finally purchasing all the things that I covet, but cannot get my hands on (yet or at all) in Greece. I’ve spent countless hours perusing the website and now finally have a (10 item “budget friendly”) wishlist.

I’m sharing it here, before going ahead with the actual order, in the hope that some of you may have already tried some of the products – and have opinions & reviews to share… There’s so many things on my radar at the moment, making your feedback invaluable in terms of not spending money on something not worth the hype and replacing it with one of my back-up items (or, even, something I haven’t even thought of), instead.

Jewellery Designer: Ileana Makri

Jeweller Ileana Makri was born in Greece and, after initially obtaining a degree in Business Administration, went on to follow her passion and studied jewellery design at the G.I.A. (Gemological Institute of America, in Santa Monica).

Back in 1987 Ileana opened her first Athens store, where she eventually showcased her signature jewellery line (in 1996). Her designs were an overnight success and the collection was instantly picked up by Barneys New York.

Fast forward 18 years to the present: Ileana’s designs are being sold at high-end retailers worldwide and worn by an ever growing list of celebrity clients (including Uma Thurman, Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, Lenny Kravitz, Faith Hill, Rita Wilson, Ashley Olsen, Courtney Cox, Hellen Mirren, Jessica Alba and Debra Messing). She is also known for her collaborations with talented London-based designer, Mario Schwab & fashion label ‘The Row’ (of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen).

Unfortunately (but, probably, luckily for me) most of her designs are too expensive to even begin to consider owning. That said, they are still sparkly works of art & amazingly beautiful to look at. Case(s) in point:

Deco City Crystal & Gold plated Earrings by Anton Heunis (149€)

I just discovered Cadenzza, an amazing online jewellery store. Along with it I also discovered, among many others, Mr. Anton Heunis & his timelessly elegant range of handmade jewellery. His stunning pieces include “drop earrings, pendants, cluster necklaces and rings – all plated in gold, silver, rhodium or gunmetal and set with Swarovski crystals or resin and glass stones“. Technical details aside all of his designs are simply jaw- dropping and, if I have to be honest, I think you owe it to yourself to visit Cadenzza & order something! Darn, that’s exactly what I would have done, if only online orders could be shipped to Greece (instead, I’m just dying a bit inside…).

This new Chanel foundation sounds great (& very, very interesting)! Definitely making it a priority to do some more research on it, inquire (re: launch date) at my local Sephora then, if need be, look into ordering online…

Design Obsession of the Day

The Internet is a mad, mad, mad world! Will you just look at what I found online?

London based brand Takkoda (its name derived from the Sioux word meaning “friend to all”) is the one behind the – award winning –  brand Pets Rock® which features a range of different products, printed with images of everyday pets which were photographed in their own homes to capture their natural expressions and then “dressed up” to look like stars (with the process of “extracting the celebrity ego from within the pet”, taking approximately “40 hours of digital work”)! Products include… well mostly anything you can imagine, from postcards to chopping boards & wall hangers to flip flops but the nicest ones are these cute faux suede, machine washable cushions. Some of them had me laughing out loud – and I think they’d add a pop of color & fun to any space. Just imagine ‘Andy Warhol’ on your sofa or home office chair… If nothing else, it would definitely make you smile! It also seems like there’s some real nice pet beds available to buy (examples here, here & here). Seriously, can you imagine your pet lounging lazily on one of them? Priceless… Here’s some of my favorite designs:

According to the company all cushions have been “printed with archival inks to get the brightest, saturated finish possible”, are hand made and also fully machine washable at 30ºC. Prices range from £34.99 (for the cushions) to  £85.00 (for the pet beds).
