Pick Your Five: ZARA Special Price

Now, I need to start by saying I “blame” this purely on Mostly Me + Certain Others (#instigator). This popped up on my WordPress Reader, earlier this morning – and led to my discovering an entire “special price” section on the ZARA website (which I… 1. curiously knew nothing about, 2. promptly browsed through and 3. am now itching to buy half of …). You might wanna drop by and have a look, especially if you’re into the mood for some guilt- free, treat- yourself, pre- holiday shopping or in need of grabbing some budget gifts for family and friends (nothing I saw was priced over 30€). Meanwhile, to get you in the right frame of mind, here’s five items that took my fancy: [Images: ZARA]

Pick Your Five: Balmain x H&M

The Balmain x H&M collection has finally hit shelves in Greece and, to be honest, it is not exactly everything I had been hoping for (*insert collective fashionista gasp here*). That probably has to do with the fact that I’m more of a plain Jane when it comes to my wardrobe – so all the feathers and sequins and embroidery just isn’t rocking my boat. That said, there is a few select pieces I would have definitely grabbed, provided I was inclined to spend a sizable chunk of money (which, at the moment, is truly not in huge supply) and travel to Athens to stoically squeeze myself in line at the one H&M store that carries the collection. Here’s my coveted top 5: The Dressy Dress A girl can never have too many little black dresses and, in classic Balmain fashion, this totally knocks it out of the park (no unnecessary frills included). The Casual Dress Cause there is nothing like a bold everyday piece to instantly lift your mood and make those dreary winter …

Pick Your Five: Queued to View

Those of you who know me, know I am really not a big TV fan. That said, I do enjoy a bit of good drama and/ or comedy and have been known to occasionally spend hours in front of the screen, in DVD series marathon weekends… In a bit of an odd post, today I’d like to share with you five, relatively new, TV series that have caught my attention and found their way onto my to-watch list – namely: I’ve always loved the story of these amorous ruffians (and the 1930’s vibe, in general) so I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy this mini-series. The UK DVD version was released on May 19th – retails for £18.81 and is already on my Amazon wish list. This is one I keep hearing raves about and – given the fact that I’ve always loved Woody Harrelson – simply do not intend to miss. Matthew McConaughey is a welcome addition ‘since, despite the fact that I do not particularly like him, I have to admit his acting has matured …

Pick Your Five: Oscars’ 2014 Best Dressed

With the 86th Annual Academy Awards all done and the Hollywood glamour & glitter still vivid in my mind, it is clearly time for a Best Dressed Top 5. I’ll start counting backwards with Cate Blanchett and her stunning Swarovski encrusted Armani Prive – at no. 5: Next up is Camila Alves and her arrestingly simple (and husband coordinated) Gabriela Cadena gown – at no. 4: Moving on, it’s time for the ever gorgeous Angelina Jolie and her intricately beaded Elie Saab – at no.3: Nearing the top, I gravitate towards Sandra Bullock and her classically stunning Alexander McQueen dress – at no.2: And finally, first place is reserved for the amazing, jaw- droppingly dazzling Kate Hudson in her resplendent, Old Hollywood, Atelier Versace number: Honorable mention goes to: Sarah Paulson (in Elie Saab), Idina Menzel (in Vera Wang), Amy Adams (in Gucci Premiere), Meryl Streep (in Lanvin), Olivia Wilde (in Valentino)  & Maria Menounos (in Johanna Johnson). What did you think of the Oscars’ Red Carpet fashion this year? Any favorites? {Images: © Getty …

Pick Your Five: Favorite MAC Products

It’s no big secret that I have a long- standing love affair with MAC Cosmetics, which I’ve been using (almost religiously) for the last 10-15 years. With that in mind, I thought it was about time I created a Top5 of my absolute favorites and this is the end result. So, without further ado, here are my all-stars: 1. Fluidline Gel Liner Ever since I first used this (special angled liner brush included), about 6 years ago, I have never looked back. This stuff practically glides on to give me my beloved cat- eye and will, literally, NOT budge throughout the day (and night). The alternative, animal friendly, Stila Smudge Pot I opted for last year never even stood a chance and left a lot to be desired (not to mention it completely dried up, half- way through, resulting in a total waste of hard- earned money). 2. Studio Fix Fluid SPF15 Having tried a ridiculous number of different foundations on my (oily & still acne prone) skin, I can honestly say that this takes …
