Girlfriend of the Bride…

From L to R: Zara Dress with Cut- Out Back, Zara Printed Maxi Dress, Zara Printed Dress with Wide Straps, Lynne Maxi Wrap Dress This coming June, on the 21st to be precise, one of my girlfriends is getting married. Which would be perfect, except for this: I’ve lately gained a bit of weight, resulting in most of my “dressy” clothes not actually fitting me. It is thus, that I find myself in need of purchasing something new for  the event (not that I’m complaining, of course). Following a bit of online browsing I’ve, so far, come up with four dress options (two maxi ones, one knee-length and one mini – as pictured above). I’m gravitating towards the longer lengths and might end up choosing between the navy-white wrap and knee-length emerald-green numbers above, but I’m still not 100% sure – which is where you stylish, fashion- conscious people come in!  So, let’s hear it: which of the above would you chose for a relatively laid back wedding & reception (if you were pear-shaped with …

Coming Soon: Kate Moss x Topshop

7 years after their last collaboration, Topshop and Kate Moss get together again, to create an eagerly expected 40 piece collection. With just 5 days remaining before the official launch (which, I am guessing is gonna wreak havoc both online and off), I had a little look at the designs and decided on my absolute favorite, can-not-afford-to-miss-no-matter-what piece… Isn’t that an absolute stunner? Can’t help but think how perfect it would be for my friend Erinetta’s wedding – coming up in June. Just hope the price tag isn’t surreal. I did manage to snatch a black, tuxedo jacket from Kate’s previous Topshop collection and (if memory serves me right) it wasn’t exactly the cheapest of its kind…  Oh well, I guess there’s not long to wait now, before we all figure that one out. For those interested, there will be plenty of other lovely pieces on offer. My personal favorites: the black tasselled sleeveless top (which would look amazing with skinny jeans and high-heeled sandals), the paisley & black lace trim dress, the emerald-green mini …

Fashion Obsession of the Day

This is one of those posts that don’t really need too many words to put their point across… It’s quite simple really: I am in love with this gorgeous, jersey biker jacket from Next (doesn’t it have a very Chanel- esque vibe to it?) and absolutely need to make it mine. Only problem is, I can’t really decide between the Grey/Ecru and the Ochre version…   I’m thinking, with Spring already in the air & this being a seasonal piece an’all, I should go for the latter. At the same time, I’m wondering whether I’d be better off opting for the timeless elegance that black and white exudes. After all, I am (and probably forever will be) a monochromatic lover, at heart… What do you think? [All Images: © 2014 Next Retail Ltd.]

Fashion Obsession of the Day

If you follow this blog regularly, you may have noticed my slight obsession with statement necklaces. This last year has made me quite the happy camper, with a vast array of amazing designs available for all budgets – and my latest find is the Topshop Hexagon Collar pictured above. I find it extremely chic, yet somehow edgy (a.k.a. exactly up my alley) and will be putting in an order for it as soon as I finish typing this ASAP. What do you think? Love it or hate it?

Designer Focus: Ileana Makri

Jeweller Ileana Makri was born in Greece and, after initially obtaining a degree in Business Administration, went on to follow her passion and studied jewellery design at the G.I.A. (Gemological Institute of America, in Santa Monica). Back in 1987 Ileana opened her first Athens store, where she eventually showcased her signature jewellery line (in 1996). Her designs were an overnight success and the collection was instantly picked up by Barneys New York. Fast forward 18 years to the present: Ileana’s designs are being sold at high-end retailers worldwide and worn by an ever growing list of celebrity clients (including Uma Thurman, Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, Lenny Kravitz, Faith Hill, Rita Wilson, Ashley Olsen, Courtney Cox, Hellen Mirren, Jessica Alba and Debra Messing). She is also known for her collaborations with talented London-based designer, Mario Schwab & fashion label ‘The Row’ (of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen). Unfortunately (but, probably, luckily for me) most of her designs are too expensive to even begin to consider owning. That said, they are still sparkly works of art & amazingly …
