Go Gaga for Versace

It’s no big secret that Lady Gaga is a big Versace fan, as evident by both her cheeky, public appearances in the label’s many designs and  her latest ARTPOP song tribute to the Italian fashion house’s leading lady: Now, according to tweets by both her and Versace, Gaga will also be the face of its Spring/Summer 2014 campaign (shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott). In the “teaser” first photo of the campaign, Gaga looks uncannily like a young Donatella – in a gorgeous, revealing lilac dress and poker straight blonde locks. I have to admit I love this little sneak peek and will be looking forward to the rest of the campaign. What do you think of the collaboration? Is Lady Gaga for Versace a hit or a miss? Mary Katrantzou Online

It’s always uplifting and inspiring to see fellow nationals excel in the worldwide arena whether it be in food, beauty, fashion or anything else. Throughout the years I have found such inspiration in a number of different news pieces, from articles showcasing the huge success of Carpo (nuts/dried fruit/ chocolate/ coffee) in London & Lukumas (traditional greek doughnuts) in Barcelona, to pieces praising the wonderful, all natural beauty offerings of the Korres family and articles in the world’s greatest fashion magazines featuring the amazing prints of our very own Mary Katrantzou. Born in Athens in 1983, Katrantzou followed her dream and ambition and has quickly become one of fashion’s favorite children – with hundreds of celebrity fans, stockists all around the globe and co-op projects with the likes of Longchamp, Current Elliott, Repetto, Swarovski, Gianvito Rossi et. al. Her latest project, launched two days ago, is a website offering details re: the brand’s latest news and events, as well as select pieces from the label’s collection (via the e-shop, where customers can filter items by …

Ones to Watch: Deetz Clothing & Accessories

This season fashion is in love with all sorts of motifs and colorful prints, which are consequently back with a vengeance. In exploring the trend, I bumped into a hip new label that’s currently on the rise (and recently nominated for a Scottish Fashion Award in the Young Designer category): Deetz Clothing & Accessories. Taken from the label’s webpage: British brand Deetz is the brainchild of sisters Amy Currie and Lauren Milligan, originally from Scotland, who now both live and design in London. Established in 2011, the label specialises in hand-illustrated, distinctive, digitally-printed silk garments. From loveable Penelope the pug Geisha and Mr and Mrs on their wedding day, to the whimsical Earliest Love allover and poetic Nostradamus prints, there is something within the Deetz collection to suit everybody. Bright candy colour placement prints, on black or white bases, and vivid allover prints are simplified by the boyish, oversized shapes. A selection of black haircalf, kaleidoscopic coloured suede, and snake embossed detachable collars complement many of the garments. The current collection has a little something …
