Sunday Manicure (Vol.14)

Products used: Erre Due Diamond Base Coat 6.49€ Essie (Winter 2013) no. 851 ‘Shearling Darling’ 12.50€ Erre Due Ceramic Top Coat 6.49€ First Impressions: Tomorrow, this girl’s going hunting for the latest Essie (Resort ’14) shades. Today, however, Sunday Manicure presents ‘Shearling Darling’ – the 4th out of the six-piece Winter ’13 collection to grace my talons. Labeled as a “rich, plush, ebony red”, this looks gorgeous in the bottle but upon (a typical two-coat) application transforms into a run-of-the-mill dark burgundy – which we’ve all seen (& worn) a thousand times. Other than the color being a bit of a ‘disappointment’, this is pretty good – as usual. Good consistency, average to short drying time and minimal (but there) patching – mainly at the very base of the nail. Probably not a must- have but still a good classic – for those of you who might be lacking in the area. Have any of you tried ‘Shearling Darling’? What did you think?

Revlon by Marchesa – Red Carpet Collection

Originally posted on A Stairway To Fashion:
Revlon and Marchesa came together one more time, for the third time, and created the “Red Carpet” beauty collection. “Beauty plays such a huge role in completing a red carpet look and we wanted this collection to be representative of some of our most iconic red carpet moments,” said Keren Craig, co-founder and textile director for Marchesa. “We were inspired by the bespoke elements found in the Marchesa collections and translated them to the packaging through beautiful hues and intricate designs. This exclusive collection makes it possible for every woman to have her own show-stopping beauty moment.” The two giants, in the honour of their third collaboration funded $ 15.000 towards the Half the Sky – a program that helps the fight of women and children against the oppressions and empower women worldwide. “It was very important to us, on a personal level, that this collection have an added philanthropic element. In fact, Revlon’s dedication to charity was a driving force behind our decision to work with the company, as…

Not sure if you’ve seen the upcoming MAC ‘A Fantasy of Flowers’ collection or what you think of it. I, for one, have and cannot wait for the March international release! Sephora Haul

A couple of weeks ago, I headed over to Sephora with the (very honest and very innocent) intention of buying hairspray. Then…this, somehow, happened: Above, (kinda) clockwise: Benefit ‘World Famous Neutrals’ Eye Palette & ‘The Porefessional’ Primer, L’Oreal Elnett Satin Extreme Hold Hairspray, Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara, Sephora Cotton Flower Moisturizing Hand Cream The only thing that wasn’t a complete impulse buy was the Benefit ‘Porefessional’, which I have been meaning to get for a while (and which, in my defense, was 35% off at the time). The eye palette (also at 35% off) was picked up instead of the Too Faced ‘Naked Eye’ one (which was not in stock) and has proved to be amazing and, when used with a primer, extra long-lasting. All six colors included (see below) are subtle & sultry at the same time and can easily be played down or up – for morning/ evening looks respectively. The Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara was something I kept hearing about and felt that I needed (my bottom lashes are real tiny, to …

Sunday Manicure (Vol.13)

Products used: Erre Due Diamond Base Coat 6.49€ Essie Winter 2013 Collection no. 852 ‘Sable Collar 12.50€ Erre Due Ceramic Top Coat 6.49€ First Impressions: Yesterday morning I went looking for Essie Resort 2014 (as promised). Turns out, the new shades won’t be available before Feb. 10th. I was faced with a “be-flexible-or-go-home-disillusioned” moment and (since two of the Winter 2013 colors, which I hadn’t been able to previously find, were now in)… I chose wisely. As a result, Sunday Manicure is now proud to present: Sable Collar. Essie labeled this a “luxurious, pearlescent cocoa plum” which saves me the trouble of trying to describe it myself. All I’m gonna say is: this is an absolutely wonderful color & (if you haven’t snatched it up, yet) I recommend you buy it. As far as I am concerned, it’s destined to be a Top5 shade for the rest of the winter! On to more practical matters, this is very “what-you-see-is-what-you-get” in terms of color & could theoretically be opaque in as little as one coat (I …
