Sunday Manicure (Vol.11)

Products used: Erre Due Diamond Base Coat 6.49€ Avon Nailware Pro+ in Vintage Boutique (183939) 9.80€ Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat 15.60€ First Impressions: Those who know me, know that brown is generally not one of my favorite colors but I do like this light, latte one from Avon’s Nailware Pro+ range. Though the brush on this (and most Avon polishes, to be honest) is nothing special, the color did glide on easily – with good payoff and no evident streaking. The average drying time of the polish (not as short as the Speed Dry+ 30 range one, but still quite satisfactory) was drastically diminished to 1-2 minutes by my marvelous, precious new top coat – making me quite the happy camper for the second week in a row. As far as durability goes (& judging from my previous experience with Nailware Pro+) I’m certain this will last a full 7 days of banging away on my keyboard – with no evident chipping. All in all, I’d wholeheartedly recommend this especially to any of …

Sunday Manicure (Vol.10)

After the brief, festive reprieve of last week, Sunday Manicure’s back. To make up for taking time off, today’s volume is kind of a double-whammy: I’m testing both a new color and a much talked about speed-drying top coat.   Products used: Erre Due Diamond Base Coat 6.49€ Sephora Color Hit Nail Polish in no.75, Blackjack 5.40€ Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat 15.60€ First Impressions: This week’s nail polish is from my favorite Sephora line (see other colors I own here, here and here), so my impressions couldn’t really be anything but favorable. The fantastic, ergonomic brush made application a piece of cake, while the color (a sparkling greyish black) glided on like a dream – as per usual. These polishes dry quick anyway, but today I wanted to try the (raved- about- by- beauty- bloggers- everywhere) famous, Seche Vite top coat. Now, being fully aware of the fact that I’m ridiculously late in doing so, I have to sing this product’s praises review this. Let me start by saying it’ s one of …

Oops, I did it again…

Earlier today, I bumped into a post by the lovely Ruth Crilly of A Model Recommends showcasing the KIKO Ultra Glossy Stylo lipstick set. Her little review led to my googling the brand (for those of you who are not yet familiar with it KIKO is an Italian based, professional makeup & skin care company), checking out other beauty blogger reviews of their products and visiting the dedicated website to check the range out for myself. BIG MISTAKE! A couple of hours later, not only am I registered with them but I have also put in a slightly obscene order – for about 80€ worth of products :O               I am now feeling guilty and over- excited, in equal measures, and cannot wait to get my hands on their package and start trying out all the new & exciting stuff I’ve got. I will be posting a (mega) haul review, as soon as I’ve got a chance to sample everything – so do check back if you wanna see …

Would you rather…tag

A couple of days ago, the lovely Ginger from “Ginger Loves Makeup” left me a comment, inviting me to tackle the ‘Would you Rather’ tag  (a first, since I resurfaced and changed my blog focus back in October). So, let me begin by thanking her (thanks a mill sweetie!!) and then diving right in… 1. Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lip glosses or lose all of your palettes and eye shadows? I think a face can still look pretty stunning without eye shadow, as long as the lips are bright and the eyes well-defined (ie. with a gorgeous cat eye and va- va- voom mascara), so I guess I’d rather give up my palettes and eye shadows. 2. Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again? I’d go absolutely stir crazy if I knew I couldn’t play around with my hair anymore – so… chop it off, I say! 3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek? …

Coming Soon: YSL ‘La Laque Couture Spicy Collection’

In addition to its ‘Flower Crush’ makeup collection, set to launch in Feb. 2014, Yves Saint Laurent will soon be introducing the ‘La Laque Couture Spicy Collection’ featuring 5 new polish shades inspired by colorful spices and one golden top coat (which was released earlier, in time for the Christmas holidays, and is available to buy through YSL online). Here’s a closer look at the -gorgeous- new shades we’ll all be lusting after, come next month… From left to right: No. 47 Feuille d’Or (Top Coat) – 22.60€, No. 41 Eau de Rose, No. 42 Safran Sultan. From left to right: No. 43 Opulente Cannelle, No. 44 Ambre Gingembre, No. 46 Poivre Noir. ‘Opulente Cannelle’ and ‘Poivre Noir’ are my two favorites, with ‘Ambre Gingembre’ a close third. And, at the expected  22.60€ per bottle, I have a sneaking suspicion I might just try all of them. How about you? Looking forward to trying any of these?
