Yesterday evening I headed downtown and got myself a couple of things, that I’ve been meaning to try for a while. I would definitely not call this a haul -maybe more of an (impromptu) dash into Sephora, before my scheduled glass of wine with friends. Still, here’s the cult items I got:
– Benefit “They’re Real” Mascara
Have been hearing great things & reading raves about this from friends and fellow bloggers respectively so, as you would expect, I just had to try it out. Here’s what I thought: The actual wand is very sturdy but quite slim, which makes for an extremely precise application. I followed the directions on the box and was surprised to see my lashes turn into a va-va-voom version of themselves (looking definitely longer and more curled than they do when I use my Maybelline Rocket Volum’ Express mascara). In fact, what they reminded me of once I was done (& throughout the day, really) was… dolls’ eyes (you know the porcelain ones with the impossibly long lashes?). Do note that a good, dedicated eye makeup remover is in order here, though – since the product is tough to remove and it certainly would not do to leave traces of it on your lashes (I find that tends to weaken them, just a tad). All in all, I can honestly say this is completely worth the hype! If you’re in the market for a new mascara, make sure you get “They’re Real”. I promise you will not be disappointed…
– Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in no.6, Roomiest Rose
I’d been meaning to pick one of these up forever but kept getting sidetracked by other, more economical versions (like Avon’s and Korres’). The whole of the Chubby Stick Intense range is now 35% off in Sephora – which kinda gave me the last jolt I needed to go ahead and try them out. I wanted something for everyday but with a bit of a pop to it, so I picked no. 6, Roomiest Rose (which is a dark rose shade with a bit of a shimmer). I couldn’t wait to try it on and already used it this morning. It glided on seamlessly, had great color payoff and felt real soft and hydrating on my lips. Results lasted for about 4 hours (but do note that I ate and drunk twice during that time). I’m so impressed with the feel, durability and ease of this that I’m already planning my next lip shade buys (namely 01 Curviest Caramel and 08 Grandest Grape), not to mention that I am flirting with the idea of trying out the shadow tints (in Fuller Fudge and Whopping Willow), as well. All in all, I guess you should count me as “officially on the Chubby Sticks bandwagon”.

Just perused the full range of the luscious new Giorgio Armani Nail Lacquer Collection online. I’m loving the Reds and the Aquas! Not 100% about the Beiges, to be honest. I know nudes are all the rage this season (and Armani’s colors do look lovely) but they tend to “disagree” with my olive complexion and make my hands look like those of a dead person… so I guess I’ll pass… Still a gorgeous color palette (albeit a bit pricey at $20.00 a pop).
