Mavala’s Jewel Collection for Christmas 2013
And here I was, wondering what nail polish I’d try next. Loving the holiday range by Mavala and can only hope it comes to Greece in time for Christmas. Moonstone and Topaz Gem are no brainers in my book…

It’s no big secret that Lady Gaga is a big Versace fan, as evident by both her cheeky, public appearances in the label’s many designs and her latest ARTPOP song tribute to the Italian fashion house’s leading lady: Now, according to tweets by both her and Versace, Gaga will also be the face of its Spring/Summer 2014 campaign (shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott). In the “teaser” first photo of the campaign, Gaga looks uncannily like a young Donatella – in a gorgeous, revealing lilac dress and poker straight blonde locks. I have to admit I love this little sneak peek and will be looking forward to the rest of the campaign. What do you think of the collaboration? Is Lady Gaga for Versace a hit or a miss? Products used: Avon Nail Experts Advanced Mira- Cuticle Vanishing Complex & Avon Nail Experts Revitacool Base Coat – No Longer Available Essie Toggle to the Top 12.00€ Erre Due Ceramic Top Coat 6.50€ First Impressions: I was, initially, very excited to get this and I could hardly wait to try it out today. Then I made the mistake of checking out a couple of reviews online and… started worrying. They were a bit of a mixed bag, with some loving the polish and some others hating it. I also came across a few people saying how they considered this to be sub-par for Essie, as it was too thick and chunky making it almost impossible to apply. For a second there I thought I might have wasted my money… Having now tried Toggle to the Top (and given the fact that I am no professional when it comes to manicure) I know I needn’t have worried. Despite the glitter in it, the polish was fluid enough and the color glided on perfectly. It dried really …
A couple of days ago I was talking about how I should really stop obsessing over (and spending money on) make-up. Yesterday… I went on a little shopping expedition downtown and came back with these: Clockwise, from left to right: MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Natural, in Medium Essie polish (from the Winter 2013 collection), in Toggle to the Top Diorific Vernis (from the “Golden Winter” Holiday 2013 collection), in 751 Marilyn [3ml free sample of Dior Capture Totale ONE Essential Skin Boosting Super Serum] Diorific Long- Wearing True Color Lipstick (from the “Golden Winter” Holiday 2013 collection), in 042 Winter Benefit “Gimme Brow” brow- volumizing fiber gel, in Medium/Deep MAC Select Cover- Up, in NW20 I should probably thank my lucky stars that a. many of the Holiday collections haven’t yet hit the stores around here and b. Bobbi Brown is apparently only available in Athens. Both blessings in disguise, really (since otherwise, this little outing would have been far more destructive for my bank account – albeit extremely more satisfying for my inner shopaholic). Now… …
Lately, I find myself thinking this obsession with makeup has to end… But, with Christmas rapidly approaching and all the different, gorgeous holiday makeup collections popping up in stores like mushrooms… well, I don’t really think it will – at least not anytime soon. Following my Guerlain “Crazy Paris” fascination (around the beginning of the month) and my (very recent) Burberry Gold Collection fancy, I am now head over heels in love with the upcoming “Old Hollywood” make-up offering by Bobbi Brown. With prices ranging from $18- $75 the collection features: – A limited edition eye palette with nine (eye-catching!) eye- shadows (creamy white, pinky beige sparkle, champagne sparkle, light grey sparkle, dark heather grey, tan beige, brown sparkle, creamy beige shimmer and dark grey) – Three Long Wear Cream Shadow Sticks (in Tuxedo Black & -limited edition- 24 Karat and Bronze shades) – Four lip glosses (Siren Red and -high shimmer Candlelight, Rose and Pure Gold)– A classic ink liner (in Blackest Black) – Four, gorgeous, nail polishes (2 plain ones, in Siren Red …
