Mouse Party…

I do realise this is a bit of an unusual post but you guys should really check it out (click on the image above, to access). Such an innovative way to tackle the subject of drugs and give people an understanding of how different substances work!  [Video © 2006 Genetic Science Learning Centre, University of Utah]

Sun of a Beach…

Summer is finally here and, as expected, I have started obsessing over getting ‘beach ready’. From the perfect suntan lotion, to a brand new beach bag, to a flattering swimsuit & a soft, luxurious beach towel – I want it all! It was in this exact spirit that I was browsing the internet last night, when I bumped into ‘Sun of a Beach’. Our very own Melina Pispa and Ellie Rountou have joined forces to create the plushest, most design oriented beach towels. Using the very best materials (exceptional quality 100% egyptian cotton towel and cotton fabric) and paying special attention to detail, these ladies have managed to amass a range of designs you’ll most certainly lust after. All towels are double sided, come in two lengths (100×140 and – the extra spacious – 100×180) & are presented in a cool burlap bag – which can be used as a stylish beach bag. Prices are rather steep, but I have the sneaking suspicion that will not stop me from purchasing one of my favorites (pictured …

Foodies of the World, Unite (& Visit T.I.Y.)

As some of you may know, I am big food lover and (despite the fact that I no longer live in a place of my own, which makes experimenting in the kitchen kinda tricky) love to discover and try new recipes. I’ve also recently re-committed to running (after an eight month hiatus!) & eating lean/clean as part of a multi-faceted plan to lose weight, improve my health and ultimately feel happier in my own skin. Enter the most amazing food/health blog I’ve ever come across (& already feel the obligation to share with the blogosphere): THE IRON YOU. Written by (possibly the perfect man) Mike, a triathlete, yogi, health enthusiast and food lover this blog features the tastiest sounding recipes – complete with mouth-watering photos and all the relevant nutritional information you usually wonder about. There’s vegan, vegetarian, paleo & gluten free recipes for mostly everything – ranging from breads & dips to entrees & salads and from pre/post exercise smoothies to sumptuous desserts. I’ve already spent a good couple of hours semi obsessively “turning” …

Girlfriend of the Bride…

From L to R: Zara Dress with Cut- Out Back, Zara Printed Maxi Dress, Zara Printed Dress with Wide Straps, Lynne Maxi Wrap Dress This coming June, on the 21st to be precise, one of my girlfriends is getting married. Which would be perfect, except for this: I’ve lately gained a bit of weight, resulting in most of my “dressy” clothes not actually fitting me. It is thus, that I find myself in need of purchasing something new for  the event (not that I’m complaining, of course). Following a bit of online browsing I’ve, so far, come up with four dress options (two maxi ones, one knee-length and one mini – as pictured above). I’m gravitating towards the longer lengths and might end up choosing between the navy-white wrap and knee-length emerald-green numbers above, but I’m still not 100% sure – which is where you stylish, fashion- conscious people come in!  So, let’s hear it: which of the above would you chose for a relatively laid back wedding & reception (if you were pear-shaped with …

Liebster Love…

Back in April, I was kindly nominated for a Liebster Award by Polly from the amazing Happily Polly (thanks, sweetie, for enjoying Lifestyle Counter enough to nominate me). Ever since then, not a day has gone by when I didn’t think about how I needed to do this post. That said, I was actually quite daunted by the sheer effort required to adhere to the rules set… which is kind of why it turned (past) mid- May by the time I got around to actually tackling it… Anyhow, let me start by answering the eleven questions posed by Polly: 1. In one sentence, sum up why you blog I started keeping a blog (in the form of a personal diary) back in 2003 as a means of keeping in touch with family/ friends and have stayed the course through the years (albeit with a clear shift of focus) mainly because I find it constitutes a great creative outlet, as well as an opportunity to “meet” and make connections with people from all over the globe. …
