Makeup of the Day…

Getting up for work at 6.30am sucks. Having about 30′ available for your whole skincare/ makeup routine sucks even worse. I somehow always manage to get everything done in time but, in the mad ‘locate keycard/ grab keys/ find phone/ organize bag/ head out the door’ dash that ensues, rarely have time (let alone the presence of mind) to  take a ‘Makeup of the Day’ photo. This morning was a shining exception. I was a bit late getting up, which meant I had even less time than usual. Having completed my usual AM routine (i.e. cleanse and tone, with Clinique’s Anti Blemish Solutions Cleansing Foam and Clarifying Lotion respectively, then hydrate with the Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Stay- Matte Hydrator), I opted to keep things light and easy… First I applied my all- time- favorite Tea Tree Flawless BB Creme by the Body Shop, mixed with the tiniest bit of my trusted MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation. My skin’s been acting up lately, so I needed that bit of extra coverage – and I have found …

Ones’ to Watch: Delphine- Charlotte Parmentier

I’ve got a new, favorite (dream – unless I win the lottery) jeweller: the talented Parisian Delphine- Charlotte Parmentier. Having started designing in her grandparents’ atelier, she recently (2013) celebrated her 2oth year anniversary in collab with Swarovski crystals (which she has used in her designs, since the beginning). A look at her website will leave you breathless (both because of the designs and some of the price tags), but is well worth it. You are bound to find favorite pieces (both classic and edgier) in most, if not all, of her 38 current collections – which, I guarantee you are gonna be dreaming of and lusting after for days to come. Gadget Alert: Zapi Luxe Toothbrush Sanitizer

We all, obviously, know how important oral hygiene is. How many of us are aware of the need to ensure the hygiene of our actual toothbrush, though? It may sound like going slightly overboard but, when you think about it, it makes total sense. The other day, I bumped into this extra cute toothbrush sanitizer by Violife and fell head over heels in love. It’s beautifully designed (would look extra cute on any bathroom counter) and claims to “eliminate up to 99.9% of germ with UV light”. Unfortunately my favorite design (the little, grey chicken) seems to be sold out (discontinued?) but there’s a fancy little ninja still on offer – for those of you who like a bit of whimsy in their day. If you are more of a minimal- chic kinda girl (/lad) you can always try the cobalt blue (personal favorite), gun-metal grey or pearl white one. These little cuties retail for $29.95 (currently on sale from $39.95) and are available to ship internationally, to 249 (!) different countries…

China- born and Brooklyn- raised/ based Xuedi Chen has designed X.Pose – a “wearable data-driven sculpture that exposes a person’s skin, as a real-time reflection of the data that the wearer is producing”. Everytime data is transmitted and/or shared, a little piece of the design turns from milky white to transparent (making you think twice about how much you choose to share online). The garment is meant to serve as a reminder of how vulnerable people are (or, rather, can make themselves) in the virtual world. Definitely not something I’d like to wear, considering how much time I spend on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, WordPress & the like – but an ingenious idea, nevertheless! {Image/ Video: © Xuedi Chen}
