72nd Golden Globes Awards’ Best Dressed

With the Golden Globes now all done and dusted, it’s time to have a brief look at my favorite looks of the evening. There were unfortunately way too many, unexpected fashion disasters mishaps this year (Rosamund Pike, Keira Knightley, Zosia Mamet, Tina Fey, Lena Dunham, Lana Del Rey & Tiziana Rocca being the biggest – if certainly not the only- culprits) but some amazingly elegant outfits as well. So here’s my Golden Globes’ 2015 Top Ten, in preparation for the Oscars…

No. 10

Helen Mirren in Dolce and Gabbana

No matter what she wears, Dame Helen Mirren always looks fantastic – plus, just look at that radiant face? What the heck does she do?

No. 9

Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein

I thought the strapless neckline was not the most flattering for Ms. Witherspoon (and she probably would have been better off being able to walk properly) – but the dress was understated Calvin Klein perfection, so it had to make the list…

No. 8

Kelly Osbourne in Georges Chakra

Kelly Osbourne didn’t seem to make any of the best dressed lists but I personally thought that both her stream lined, figure hugging dress and her Polaroid clutch were absolutely  gorgeous. So… she makes mine.

No. 7

J.Lo in Zuhair Murad

Now this is J. Lo in a (typical J. Lo) Zuhair Murad dress. Once again, she looks stunning. Which is good – since we’ve come to expect nothing less.

No. 6

Emma Stone in Lanvin

Emma Stone looked absolutely gorgeous in her Lanvin jumpsuit. Bonus points are in order here too, for her showing up on the red carpet in something other than your stereotypical gown…

No. 5

Salma Hayek in Alexander McQueen

Salma Hayek’s outfit did look slightly bridal (and I personally thought her accessories were a bit over the top!) but her Alexander McQueen dress was still one of the nicest of the evening.

No. 4

Jessica Chastain in Atelier Versace

I loved Jessica Chastain’s Atelier Versace (and its color, which gorgeously complemented her hair & eyes) and just couldn’t help but include it here – despite the fact it looked almost identical to Kate Hudson’s Oscars’ 2014 Atelier Versace (from the front, anyway).

No. 3

Diane Kruger in Emilia Wickstead

Diane Kruger sure did it this time – a dazzling, sleek dress coupled by simple but sparkly jewelery & a lovely (multi- colored mother of pearl?) clutch. Perfection!

No. 2

Sophie Hunter in Erdem

Need to admit to having fallen totally IN LOVE with Sophie Hunter’s Erdem dress. It’s just one of those completely unexpected and ultimately “no comment” outfits for me.

No. 1

Kate Hudson in Versace

And finally… the mother of all outfits: Kate Hudson’s long, white, statement Versace gown. Understated jewelry & makeup,  sleek hair, a gorgeous cylindrical clutch and… a body that won’t quit (I mean…come on!). Kate has been consistently amazing me lately and if this is what she wore to the GGs, I cannot wait to see what she’ll bring out for the Oscars in February.

Apart from the above ten leading ladies, honorable mention goes to: Meryl Streep (in Paule Ka), Jenna Dewan- Tatum (in Carolina Herrera), Maggie Gyllenhaal (in Miu Miu), Amy Adams (in Atelier Versace) & Katie Holmes/ Joanne Froggatt (both in Marchesa).

What did you think of the Golden Globes’ fashion this year? Any favorites?
