Seven Deadly Sins of Makeup Tag

A couple of days ago I was tagged, by the lovely Ginger (of Ginger Loves Makeup), to answer the ‘Seven Deadly Sins of Makeup’ questions. First of all a big thank you to Ginger, for enjoying my blog/ writing enough to wanna include me in this (Thanks sweetie! I really appreciate it). And now…let’s get cracking on the actual tag questions:

Greed: What’s your most expensive beauty item?
If perfume counts, that would have to be my Tom Ford ‘Black Orchid’ (@ a whopping 54€ for the 30ml bottle, it ranks as the most expensive perfume I have ever bought). If not, however, I guess I’d have to go with one of my latest buys – the large Benefit Porefessional primer (44ml @ 45€).

Wrath: What item do you have a strong love/hate relationship with?
Currently that would have to be my Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tints. I absolutely love their lip counterparts and had really great expectations going in, on account of that (plus all the positive beauty blogger feedback). Still feel like I should love them – they are very handy, relatively long-lasting and come in a great array of colors. Can’t seem to make them work for me, though. One or two swipes give a very sheer result, then adding more just streaks and messes the color consistency up. Still, I refuse to give up on them. Guess, I’ll keep experimenting (& also try their more neutral colors, to see if that makes any difference).

Gluttony: What brand takes up most of your collection?
That would be MAC, hands down. Followed closely by Benefit.

Sloth: What product do you ignore the most due to laziness?
When it comes to my morning makeup, I always start aiming for the bare minimum – then end up with the whole works. I’m ashamed to admit, however, to often skipping my skin care regimen (especially in the morning, when I have to apply eye/day creams & wait for them to sink in before applying makeup). I’ve also been known to go to bed in my makeup (!!) – on occasion. Somehow, taking my face off at 6am in the morning, after 3-4 drinks just doesn’t seem to cut it (I know what you’re thinking right now so here goes a little, relevant something by Edvard Munch…)

Pride: Which product gives you the most confidence?
That would have to be my foundation. Even if I have nothing else at hand, it never fails to make me feel more put together & decent- looking enough to face the world (without scaring anyone to death first thing in the morning, that is). I currently use either Benefit’s Oxygen Wow or MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid foundation (depending on the mood) but, if I had to choose one, I’d definitely go for MAC.

Lust: What item is at the top of your list?
We’re talking wish-list, right? There’s like a million things on mine (Dior’s Creme de Rose, Becca’s Beach Tints, Nars’ Orgasm Blush, Urban Decay’s Naked Palette(s), NYX’s Butter Glosses etc. etc.) The one topping them all right now, though (both lust and price-wise) has to be the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. Want it, need it, have to have it…

Envy: Which makeup product/look looks great on others but not on you?
Beige lipstick. I’ve seen it look gorgeous on other women but on me? Let’s just say I look like a (dead) failed p*** star. Actually, most everything beige looks horrendous on me (except, maybe, foundation). Also, thick eyeliner looks (I find thinner, classic winged lines work best for my eye shape). And finally, purple eyeshadow. It’s known to work wonders for brown eyes, but it never fails to make mine look dead tired. Boo- hoo…

Whoa, this was fun! If any of you guys wanna give it a whirl – I’d love to see your answers.

  1. Thanks for doing the 7 sins post, hun. It was fun, wasn’t it?
Beige lipsticks… don’t get me started. I agree, it looks great on some women, but on me… let’s just say that I am so glad that no one else has ever seen what I look like with beige lipstick on! 😀

  2. The beige lipstick comment really made me laugh! I like how you talked about lazy skincare too, because I’m the same haha 🙂 Nice post x

  3. Yeah…beige? Not for me 😦
Lazy skincare is a bit of a taboo subject (especially among beauty related bloggers) I think, but I thought ‘what the neck, if I’m gonna do this I might as well be honest…’. Perfection is boring anyways 😉

  4. I loved to read your answers! Beige lipstick also makes me look hopelessly sick 🙂 and your night out-makeup removal-lazyness just made me think of Robbie Williams’ music video ‘Come Undone’ which I totally loooooove! Not everyone can be that cool 😉

  5. Thanks sweetie. I haven’t actually seen that video (need to check it out immediately, I am sooo intrigued 🙂 )

  6. God I hope you like it and don’t be offended!! 🙂 it’s just wild partying and when it was released couple of years ago I thought it was the coolest thing 😉 I used to go out a lot back then …

  7. Oh, I’m not one to get offended easily – so no worries there 😉 That’s actually a pretty cool video. Not sure why I’d never seen it before. Wasn’t too crazy about the creepy crawlies, though (like snakes and mice but worms and cockroaches are kind of overkill :P)
